The Tidong River
Los Lagos
In Chile Statkraft is developing a renewable energy project that uses water to generate clean and low-emissions electric power.
Los Lagos hydropower Project is a run-of-the-river plant that will use the water of the Pilmaiquen river and that will have an installed capacity of 52 MW.
To use the power of the water, it is necessary to have a reservoir. Therefore, a 35 meters height dam will be constructed, similar to a 12-story building.
The reservoir will cover an approximate area of 191,9 hectare.
Los Lagos hydropower Project was approved by the Executive Direction of the Environmental Assessment Department (SEA), obtaining the Resolution of Environmental Qualification (RCA) in June 2009.
The project is developing a training plan for people from communities close to the project to promote local hiring.
